Here’s a delicious recipe for Caramelized Shallot Tart, perfect for an elegant dinner or special occasion. The combination of caramelized shallots with flaky pastry creates a rich and flavorful dish.

Caramelized Shallot Tart

Ingredients:

8-10 shallots, peeled and halved
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
1 sprig of fresh thyme
1 sheet of puff pastry (about 200g), thawed and slightly rolled out
Optional: crumbled goat cheese or grated
Parmesan for topping

Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
2. Caramelize the shallots:
In a large oven-safe skillet, melt the butter with the olive oil over medium heat. Add the shallots and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to brown.
3. Add the sugar and vinegar:
Sprinkle the brown sugar over the shallots and drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shallots are caramelized and deep golden brown. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh thyme leaves.
4. Assemble the tart:
Roll out the puff pastry over the caramelized shallots in the skillet, tucking the edges in to form a border.
5. Bake:
Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crispy.
6. Unmold and serve:
Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Place a large plate over the skillet and carefully flip to release the tart with the caramelized shallots on top.
7. Optional: Sprinkle crumbled goat cheese or grated Parmesan on top for an extra touch of flavor.
