Weekly Roundup: Dec.7th – Dec.14th

Welcome to the weekend.

Iran’s government confirmed this week that it has been testing its ballistic missiles. The news has angered US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is calling on the United Nations to stop the tests and to put an end to the nuclear deal. The United Nations acknowledged concerns around the military exercises but reiterated its support for the nuclear deal.

Families inside Iran are feeling the brunt of sanctions and economic mismanagement. A new report from Majlis Research Centre indicates that unemployment is at crisis point, with youth unemployment as high as 63 percent in some parts of the country.

Perfect for foodies big and small, our Persian Treat this week is Shami Arde Nokhodchi – delicious donut-shaped chickpea meat patties. For more quick and easy recipes, follow @KayhanLife across social.
