Sept 19 (Reuters) – Iran executed a man convicted Sept 19 (Reuters) – Iran executed a man convicted of passing missile site intelligence to Israel during the 12-day war, according to the judiciary.

Iran‘s judiciary-run Mizan news agency said Hossein Pedaran was hanged after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence on charges of espionage and intelligence cooperation with Israel.

It said Pedaran had provided Israel’s Mossad intelligence service with information on sensitive military sites in the central province of Isfahan, and had carried out the espionage for financial gain.

Sept 18 (Reuters) – More US troops have died durin Sept 18 (Reuters) – More US troops have died during the US-Israeli war with Iran than the Pentagon has publicly disclosed, the Washington Post reported on Friday.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth denied the report.

The Post, citing five unidentified officials, reported that there had been at least 22 military fatalities, four more than were listed in the data available on the Pentagon’s public database.

The newspaper also reported, citing another unidentified official, that not all of the undisclosed deaths were directly tied to the months-long conflict but involved US personnel who were in the Middle East amid ongoing hostilities.

Hegseth, in a post on X, called the report “a complete LIE.”

The Post did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In its story, the newspaper said the Pentagon had declined to address its questions about the discrepancy in casualty accounting.

Sept. 19 - Sweden’s closely fought election has opened the way for a change of government, putting the future of its Iran policy before a new parliament as Stockholm and Tehran exchange diplomatic expulsions.

Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson was tasked on Sept. 18 with exploring a government after preliminary results from the Sept. 13 election gave the left-wing opposition bloc a parliamentary majority. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson submitted his resignation to the Speaker of Parliament on Sept. 17. Parliament could formally propose a candidate for prime minister as early as Sept. 29.

For Nima Gholam Ali Pour, an Iranian-born Sweden Democrats lawmaker, the campaign included an appeal to voters concerned about democracy and human rights in Iran. Speaking to Kayhan Life before the election, he argued that his party and the Christian Democrats had been stronger advocates on those issues than their rivals, and pledged continued support for democratic change.

The interview comes amid renewed diplomatic tensions. Sweden said on Sept. 16 that it had ordered an Iranian embassy official to leave over activities incompatible with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, without specifying those activities. Tehran expelled a Swedish diplomat the following day, calling Sweden’s action unjustified.

Gholam Ali Pour entered parliament in 2022 representing Malmö, and was one of three lawmakers who signed the invitation that brought Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi to the Swedish parliament in April. The visit drew criticism in Sweden and objections from Tehran.

Sept. 17 - Science Corporation has appointed Chief Sept. 17 - Science Corporation has appointed Chief Strategy Officer Darius Shahida as president, expanding his responsibilities as the neural engineering and brain-computer interface company moves from technology development toward commercial deployment of its first approved product.
Shahida’s appointment is effective immediately. He will continue overseeing Science’s investor activities, global commercialization and partnerships while reporting to CEO and co-founder Max Hodak.

The leadership change follows the commercial launch of PRIMA, Science’s retinal implant for patients with blindness caused by geographic atrophy associated with age-related macular degeneration.

PRIMA received CE marking in July and has entered commercial use in Europe and the United Kingdom, where physicians can prescribe and implant the device in appropriate patients. Science describes PRIMA as the first brain-computer interface approved for form vision restoration.

That transition from clinical and technical development into commercialization is driving the expansion of Shahida’s role.
“In many ways, our company is entering a new commercial era,” Hodak said. “Darius is already helping us build the commercial organization and operating infrastructure required for this next phase.”

As president, Shahida will help coordinate the infrastructure needed to move Science’s technology into clinical practice while maintaining responsibility for external partnerships and capital relationships.
