A large banner depicting U.S. President Donald Trump alongside a written death threat was displayed in front of Iran’s Zolfaghar and Zolghadr ballistic missiles in Tehran’s Azadi Square on Sunday, August 2.
The display comes after 13 days of direct military exchanges between the United States and Iran, ending on July 24. During the confrontation, Washington carried out strikes inside Iran, while Tehran said it targeted U.S. military facilities and equipment in several Arab countries, including Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
The escalation followed a June 18 memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran and subsequent negotiations toward a final agreement. Those talks later stalled over security concerns and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supplies and international trade.
The latest tensions also follow the February 28 U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran, which Tehran says killed more than 3,000 people. Iran responded with attacks it claimed caused casualties among American and Israeli forces.
