Banafsheh Zand is a Washington based journalist, researcher and documentary filmmaker.
In 2001, while working on a documentary about the Iranian regime’s murders of intellectuals during the 1990s, Banafsheh's father, journalist Siamak Pourzand, was abducted by agents of the regime in Iran, imprisoned and tortured. Her father was assassinated in 2011.
Banafsheh has been a consultant for American and European think tanks, international media and NGOs. She also works with Iranian activists and organizations offering support to political prisoners, students, women, and the LGBT community.
