June 17 - Arash Azadi is a multidisciplinary artist whose electroacoustic and experimental music is used in performance art and audiovisual installation. He is among the 109 artists and artist collectives selected to participate in the prestigious Sharjah Biennial in 2027.

Born in Hamedan, Iran in 1994, Azadi played the setar and received his high school diploma in math and physics. At Yerevan State Conservatory, he then studied classical Persian music and composition. He became intrigued by contemporary classical composers such as John Cage, Philip Glass, and most of all, Karlheinz Stockhausen.

In 2020, he launched his own label “Structured Experience,” an online platform for New Music and Sonic Arts. His modern approach to sound acoustics created by human beings and enhanced by machines has resonated with audiences in Europe and Iran.

Azadi, who lives in Yerevan with his Armenian wife and regularly travels to Iran to see his family, spoke about the Sharjah Biennial, music, and Iran in a recent conversation with Kayhan Life.

Congratulations on being selected to participate in the Sharjah Biennial. Has it challenged you to create a new piece?

LONDON, June 17 (Reuters) – A man who holds both B LONDON, June 17 (Reuters) – A man who holds both British and Iranian nationality has been charged with an arson attack in April on a memorial wall in a north London area that is home to a large Jewish community, police said on Wednesday.

Ali Reza Fallahi, 45, has been charged with carrying out the attack on the wall in Golders Green which contained pictures of protesters who were allegedly killed by the Iranian state in January. He is due to appear at London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

“This charge marks another step forward in one of the investigations into the series of arson attacks targeting the Jewish community and Iranian diaspora in London,” said Helen Flanagan, head of counter terrorism policing in London.

A 38-year-old woman who was also arrested in connection with the arson has been released and faces no further action.

The incident was one of a number arsons carried out on Jewish sites in Golders Green during a spate of attacks, with police saying they were investigating whether they had possible Iran links.

Two Jewish men were also stabbed, prompting the government to raise the national terrorism threat level to “severe” from “substantial”.

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France/DUBAI, June 17 (Reuters) – Leaders of the G7 countries demanded a ceasefire in Lebanon on Wednesday and said they will diversify energy supply routes to reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz in response to the war in Iran, as they welcomed an interim deal to end the conflict.

The leaders met for a summit in the French town of Evian-les-Bains on Lake Geneva, while details of the U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement trickled out of Washington and Tehran ahead of its formal unveiling, expected on Friday across the nearby Swiss border.

The U.S.-Iran agreement is expected to launch negotiations towards a final settlement to end the war, which has killed more than 7,000 people, mostly in Iran and Lebanon.

“We underline the need for the negotiation … to address the threats posed by Iran in the region and beyond and ensure that they never obtain a nuclear weapon,” the leaders said in a statement.

The summit gave U.S. President Donald Trump a chance to present his deal with Iran to major allies Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.
EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France, June 17 (Reuters) – U.S P EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France, June 17 (Reuters) – U.S President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the memorandum of understanding on Iran was not final, and that he could resume a bombing campaign if he did not like it.

“It’s a memorandum of understanding. And if I don’t like it, we’ll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs on their head. If I don’t like it, if they don’t behave, we’ll go right back to dropping bombs right smack in the middle of their head, OK?” said Trump, at the G7 summit in France.

Trump said the Iran memorandum of understanding did not include immediate sanctions relief for Iran, while adding he would talk about this matter later.

WASHINGTON, June 17 (Reuters) – Shortly after the U.S. and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran on February 28, U.S. President Donald Trump laid out a host of objectives, from destroying Iran‘s ballistic missile capabilities to ensuring Tehran can never have a nuclear weapon.

More than three months later, with a preliminary peace deal in place, what has Trump achieved?
