By kayhan Life/Reuters: World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) sensation The Iron Sheik has died at the age of 81. Khosrow Vaziri was born in Iran and was best known for his on-stage rivalry with Hulk Hogan.
The Iranian-born wrestler won the 1983 WWF World Heavyweight Championship, becoming the only Iranian to ever do so. Vaziri died at his home in Fayetteville, Georgia, on June 7, 2023. A statement on Twitter released by his family confirmed his death.
“Today, we gather with heavy hearts to bid farewell to a true legend, a force of nature, and an iconic figure who left an incredible mark on the world of professional wrestling,” said the statement.
WWE also extended its condolences to The Iron Sheik’s friends, family, and fans.
