In a gathering of student supporters, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected any notion of engaging in talks with the United States. While chants of “Death to America!” echoed, he declared, “The US president’s claim that ‘we are ready to negotiate with Iran’ is nothing more than a ruse aimed at deceiving global public opinion.”

However, a different tone emerged from his Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.  In an interview with the Iran newspaper, he hinted at the ongoing indirect negotiations with the U.S. He stated, “What truly matters is that the willingness to negotiate and reach a fair and just agreement arises under equal conditions; the form it takes is secondary.” Araghchi also revealed that the clerical regime is maintaining consultations with Russia and China while keeping the lines of communication open with the U.K., France, and Germany.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio alluded to this situation while traveling to Saudi Arabia, remarking, “Obviously, with matters such as this, one thing is what people say publicly; another is what they might be willing to do privately. “
