Amid ongoing discussions between the United States and Russia regarding the Iranian regime’s nuclear ambitions, President Trump’s aggressive “maximum pressure” strategy is in full swing.
The latest round of sanctions zeroes in on seven top members of the Iran-backed Houthi group in Yemen, signaling a relentless push against entities aligned with Tehran. Earlier, the administration imposed sanctions on Chinese companies linked to a notorious shadow fleet of aging oil tankers operating without Western insurance.
Some suggest that instead of crippling the Iranian regime, these sanctions might enrich a select few—often referred to as “sanctions profiteers.” At the heart of this is the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which has mastered navigating a clandestine web of shell companies, banks, and exchange houses to facilitate its global operations.
