Authorities in Iran have introduced a new ban prohibiting dog walking in public spaces and transporting dogs in private vehicles across more than 20 cities, according to local media reports on Tuesday, June 10.

The directive grants police the authority to enforce the ban and seize vehicles found to be carrying dogs.
The move has sparked criticism from legal experts and animal rights advocates, who argue that it violates personal freedoms and poses risks to animal welfare.
Despite the new restrictions, many dog owners in Tehran were seen walking their pets in public, underscoring widespread public opposition to the measure.
