Iran, which has the world’s third-largest oil and second-largest natural gas reserves, is grappling with severe fuel shortages and frequent electricity outages.

This crisis is occurring despite Iran’s oil exports booming under the outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden. Reports from The Economist in October indicate that the regime has engaged in illicit oil trades worth billions of dollars annually.

At the core of this chaos is a regime that prioritizes its survival over the well-being of its citizens. Instead of investing crucial funds into developing the vital oil, gas, and electricity infrastructure that could revitalize the Iranian economy, the regime has chosen to divert resources toward nuclear weapons programs, ballistic missiles, and funding proxy groups across Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.

The image of Khamenei’s hand trapped in the frayed cord of a light bulb symbolizes the stark contrast between the regime’s grand ambitions and the daily struggles faced by ordinary Iranians.
