Oct. 27 – Iran’s Quds Force, an elite military wing with extensive powers conferred to it by the Islamic Republic, has been accused of training 500 Hamas members ahead of the militia group’s attacks in Israel this month.

The information was provided by ‘people familiar with intelligence related to the assault’ according to a Wall Street Journal report this week.

Hamas, which is backed by the Islamic Republic, has been designated a terrorist organization by the US, the UK and the EU.

Armita Geravand, a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly beaten by Iran’s so-called morality police for failing to wear a headscarf, was declared “brain-dead” by state-affiliated media.

Armita was hospitalized with head injuries after the alleged assault at a metro station in Tehran in October, according to human rights activists in the country.

The incident follows the introduction of draconian legislation in Iran which allows for severe penalties and punishments for women who do not follow the mandatory dress code.

And an Iranian activist based in Turkey said she was at imminent risk of deportation to Iran, where she could face the death penalty.

Shilan Mirzaee looked visibly shaken as she recorded a video message in which she said police were outside her house waiting to arrest her but did not know why.
