Dec. 23 – Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Iran’s government was a partner in Russia’s “genocidal policy” by supplying drones which experts said were being used in the illegal invasion of Ukraine.

The comment was made during a US congress committee session on Wednesday during an historic visit to Washington by the Ukrainian president.

Russia has been accused by Ukraine of using its military occupation as a means to eradicate Ukrainians and their culture, in order to expand Russia’s geographical territory and political influence.

The highest number of deaths and injuries in a single day of the protests in Iran were recorded on Sept. 30 in Zahedan, according to a report by Human Rights Watch.

The day is known as “Bloody Friday,” and saw the deaths of at least 12 people, including one boy, while more than 30 were wounded by Iran’s security forces.

Zahedan city is the capital of the Sistan and Baluchistan province which is home to one of Iran’s minority communities routinely targeted by Iran’s government.

And injured protesters in Iran told the BBC that they were too scared to go to hospital amid fears that they would be arrested and put in jail. Volunteers with little or no medical training have been trying to treat people in their homes.

One demonstrator said he had been shot while trying to treat other protesters on the streets.
