Call it a snack, a salad, or even a dessert, Dalar goes nicely with Goje Sabzs (sour plums), Loquats, Wild Plums, Persian Cucumbers, or Oranges.
Ingredients:
- Wild Plums (red ones)
- Loquats (yellow ones)
- Sour Plums (green ones)
- Coriander (Cilantro)
- Mint
- Chochagh (Sea Holly, or Blue Eryngo is a herb that grows in Iran’s northern provinces. Mint can be used as a substitute.)
- Khalvash (Kotkotoo) – also referred to as Mentha pulegium or pennyroyal (spearmint, oregano, or thyme can be used as substitutes)
- Golpar (aka: angelica powder is ground seeds from Persian Hogweed.)
- Salt
- Angelica
- Pomegranate Paste
Instructions:
- Wash fruits (wild plums, loquats, and sour plums)
- Chop coriander, mint, khalvash, and chochagh
- Sprinkle herbs with salt
- With a heavy object (in this case a large rock) smash the herbs to make a paste
- Smash the fruits
- Mix the herb paste with the smashed fruits
- Sprinkle golpar on the fruits with the herb paste
- Pour Angelica, or pomegranate paste/molasses on the fruits with golpar and herb paste
