Amid a steady stream of difficult headlines, we wanted to share a bit of good news.

Marking one year together, Zoya Roya Biglary (@zoyaroya) posted a tribute to Alix Traeger (@majortraeger), calling the partner she tagged “the yin to my yang” and “the best decision I have ever made in my life.”

After taking some time for themselves, she said, they decided to share their wedding video to show what a happy Iranian-American wedding can look like.

Oct 24 (Reuters) – Iran has ramped up efforts to target US personnel, and lethal plots by Tehran against American citizens have reached “advanced stages”, a senior intelligence official in the Trump administration warned in a memo seen by Reuters.

The alert from Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton came after Washington scaled back staffing at its mission in Saudi Arabia earlier this week in response to intensified attacks by Iran-allied Houthi forces.

Those attacks on one front of the nearly eight-month-old regional conflict triggered by the Iran warhave coincided with a rise in attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier this month, sources told Reuters Iran was preparing a more forceful response if the United States resumes large-scale military attacks on its territory.

“Specifically, through various channels, we have received intelligence that Iran has substantially increased efforts to target US personnel,” Clayton wrote to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a message dated October 23.

“The lethal plotting efforts by the Iranians against US citizens have reached advanced stages in both the Middle East and certain other countries,” he added.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe was also copied in on the unclassified memo which was first reported by Axios.

FORT MYERS, Florida, Oct 23 (Reuters) – President

FORT MYERS, Florida, Oct 23 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump said on Friday the US may carry out another military operation against Iran just as the Iran war nears its eight-month mark and rising fuel prices weigh on the US midterm elections.

“We may do another little Epic Fury,” Trump told a rally in Florida, using the US military’s term for its war on Iran. He did not elaborate.
Trump said earlier in the day the US could end the war quickly but questioned whether Washington should seek a swift conclusion or allow the conflict to gradually wind down.
Trump, who has offered shifting goals and timelines for the war, has said in recent campaign remarks that the war will end soon, “one way or the other.”
He said this month the US would not launch an attack on Iran before the November 3 elections that will determine control of Congress, where Trump’s Republican Party holds a narrow majority in both chambers.
The US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, and Iran responded with its own strikes on Israel and Persian Gulf states that host US bases. US-Israeli strikes on Iran and Israeli attacks on Lebanon have killed thousands and displaced millions.
The war has raised oil and gas prices around the world.
Tehran plans a wider retaliation if the war resumes, Iranian officials said.
Iran has drawn up detailed plans to target undersea communications cables in the Persian Gulf if the US and Israel attack Iran again, according to two senior Iranian security officials.

Welcome to the Kayhan Life Week in Review

Oct. 23 - Fears of renewed war grew as mediators sought to revive U.S. talks with the Islamic Republic, but Tehran officials told Reuters they were stalling to deny President Trump a midterm election victory.

Another U.S. carrier approached the region, Israel prepared possible strikes against Iran, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) claimed seven “suspected” vessels were hit in the Persian Gulf.

Meanwhile, Trump’s outreach to Putin and Xi opened the door for Moscow and Beijing to help shape the new emerging regional order.

In Europe, regime-linked operations came to light.

In Iran, the state has begun drafting a bill that would criminalize insults to the country’s flag, national anthem, and other symbols of the Islamic Republic, and the Iranian Psychiatric Association warned about the mental toll of war, repression and hardship.

Our arts coverage explored painting and music at a London celebration of Afshin Naghouni’s abstract works.
In Los Angeles, Yasaman Farmanara’s “Under the Armor” examined vulnerability.
