FAIRBANKS, Alaska, Oct 6 (Reuters) – US Vice President JD Vance said in an exclusive interview with Reuters that Iran must make a “meaningful” reduction in its nuclear enrichment capacity to satisfy US demands and end the countries’ seven-month war, even as Washington was unsure how Tehran makes decisions in negotiations.

Vance, a longtime skeptic of US involvement in foreign wars, has taken a leading role in negotiating a settlement to the conflict and brokered a provisional peace agreement in June that quickly fell apart. The war has jolted global energy markets and become a political liability for President Donald Trump and fellow Republicans ahead of November midterm elections.

Speaking on Monday after a campaign trip in Alaska, Vance said any agreement would require Iran to reduce its nuclear enrichment capacity, rather than offer assurances of future nuclear drawdowns.

“If you don’t want a nuclear weapon, then why do you need 60% enriched fuel? And if you want to show commitment to not building a nuclear weapon, don’t build highly enriched fuel. That’s a very basic threshold issue,” Vance said.

“I think if they want to show a commitment to not building a nuclear weapon, they would do something meaningful on their enrichment capacity.”

Iran and the US have exchanged proposals in recent weeks aimed at ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy shipping route. Trump rejected Tehran’s latest offer and has warned that military operations could intensify after the midterms.

Vance said the US remained open to an agreement but would require concrete Iranian nuclear concessions.

“We’re not going to trade words for actions,” Vance said.

This exhibition brings together a group of Iranian

This exhibition brings together a group of Iranian artists living across geographies, whose practices emerge from a shared origin but unfold through distance, displacement, and time.

While physically separated from their country of birth, these artists remain connected to it through memory, language, and lived experiences, a constant struggle between the heart and the head.

This ongoing conflict is what we feel inside every day. We are afraid to loose our roots and our authenticity and, therefore, go through a psychological battle within us to keep Iran as our heart beat and not to let her become a distant memory.

The title of the exhibition, Iran: Memory X Heartbeat is a true reflection of this internal fight.

WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) – A suspected plot inv

WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) – A suspected plot involving Iran to launch a complex drone attack on a key British airbase led the United States to remove its B-1 bomber aircraft from the base, two US officials told Reuters on Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Iran has denied any involvement in any alleged plot at RAF Fairford, the preferred European base for US bombers. British police said on Tuesday they had arrested a 22-year-old British man in London on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts as part of their investigation into the suspected plot.

A spokesperson for the US military’s European Command declined to comment, saying: “It is inappropriate to discuss matters of intelligence, and we will not discuss specific force protection measures.”

“As demonstrated across multiple operations, America’s bombers, including B-1s, B-2s, and B-52s — can deliver precision global strike capabilities – including through operations that launch and recover from the continental United States – anywhere, anytime,” the spokesperson said.

Reposted from @manotoofficial: “In January 2026, Iran’s internet was shut down. With no foreign journalists on the ground and no independent reporting, much of what happened was recorded by the people who were there.

Across the country, people filmed protests, shootings, arrests, the wounded, the dead and the aftermath.
Their footage reached the outside world in fragments, often without clear dates, locations or context.

“This Is Our Story” brings these images together with first-hand accounts from eyewitnesses, survivors and bereaved families, revealing how events unfolded and what people experienced.
The documentary restores context to isolated clips, preserves testimony and creates a fuller record of what happened.”

LONDON, Oct 6 (Reuters) – Three Iranian men spied

LONDON, Oct 6 (Reuters) – Three Iranian men spied on British-based dissident journalists on behalf of Iran‘s foreign intelligence service in order to attack them “as retribution for their criticism of the Iranian regime”, prosecutors told a London jury on Tuesday.

The trio are accused of surveilling journalists working for Iran International, a Persian-language television station which is critical of Iran‘s government, between August 2024 and March 2025.

Mostafa Sepahvand, 41, Farhad Javadi Manesh, 46, and Shapoor Qalehali Khani Noori, 57, have each denied two charges under Britain’s National Security Act, brought in to give the authorities new powers to target threats from foreign states.

Their trial at Woolwich Crown Court began this week at time of growing tension between Britain and Iran, which prosecutors say has repeatedly targeted critics and dissidents both inside the Islamic Republic and abroad.

“Eliminating hostile or critical voices … has effectively become a staple policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones told jurors.

He said the three defendants conducted research about at least two Iran International journalists, visiting addresses linked to them and taking photos and videos in preparation for an attack which Sepahvand was to carry out.

“Their ultimate objective was that one, perhaps more than one, of these targets would be subjected to serious violence, no doubt as retribution for their criticism of the Iranian regime and to try to silence and deter others,” Emlyn Jones said.

He told the court the three defendants accepted going to places and taking photos and videos, but disputed why they had done so.

Emlyn Jones said Manesh and Noori’s case was that they did not know they were doing so to assist Iranian intelligence, while Sepahvand accepted he knew but had been “bullied or threatened into doing what he did”.
