UNITED NATIONS, June 26 (Reuters) – United Nations political affairs chief Rosemary DiCarlo told the Security Council on Wednesday that U.S. decisions not to extend waivers to allow some countries to import Iranian oil “may impede” the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal.

She also said Iran‘s announcement that it will take new steps to reduce its commitments under its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers “may not help preserve it.”

European Union U.N. Ambassador Joao Vale de Almeida told the 15-member council that there is “no credible, peaceful alternative” to the 2015 nuclear deal with Britain, France, Germany, China, Russia and the United States.
