Hundreds of pensioners demonstrated outside the Plan and Budget Organization building in Tehran demanding the introduction of new means tests so that their state aid and supplementary allowance would be increased.

Some protesters demanded salary increases in line with the high cost of living, better health care, and comprehensive employment insurance schemes.

Many of the demonstrators were carrying placards which read: “We won’t rest until our demands are met,” “Our earnings are in rials, our spending is in dollars,” “Our salary is below $500, the poverty line stands at $1,118” and “The just rule of Ali, so much injustice.”
