In its first international appearance, the Iranian women’s wrestling team topped the medal table with two golds and two bronzes at the Women Classic Wrestling Tournament held on September 22 and 23 in Beirut, Lebanon.
Women wrestlers from Iran, Armenia, Syria, Georgia, Egypt, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Ukraine, and Italy competed in the tournament. The six-member Iranian team won a total of four medals in four categories.
Fatemeh Nikbakht and Masoumeh Khanlar won golds in the 60- and 75-kilogram weight classes, respectively. Fatemeh Mohammadi and Zahra Yazdani won bronzes in the 50 and the 55-kilogram weight classes, respectively.
