The Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles hosted a speech by Reza Pahlavi, Crown Prince of Iran on Tuesday, January 29, 2024 in an event titled Iran: Between Past & Future.
Pointing to recent developments in the Middle East and the crackdown on dissent within Iran, the Prince said, “two great nations, Iran and Israel, are facing a common Goliath in the Islamic Republic. Attempting to appease this Goliath is futile. Now it is time to give David a chance. The Iranian people are today’s David fighting to bring freedom to Iran and peace and prosperity to the entire region.”
Discussing developments in Iran & the Middle East, the Prince pointed out that nothing can push Iran into reform. He called for the formation of a coalition working towards the overthrow of the Islamic Republic, not only for the sake of Iran, but the world.
He explained that Iranians want the world to support their aspirations for freedom and their fight against the regime.
“We’re not asking America to send troops or invade Iran or do any of these things. No! Just support the Iranian people. Stop giving money to the regime. Use the regime’s frozen assets belonging to Iranian people to fund strike funds. ”
The Simon Wiesenthal Center is an international Jewish human rights organization. It holds consultative status at the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the Council of Europe, the OAS, and the Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO). Following his speech the Prince had a conversation with Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action Agenda for the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Chairman of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (UCIRF).
