CAIRO, April 30 (Reuters) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will visit the Syrian capital of Damascus on Wednesday, Iran’s ambassador to Damascus was quoted as saying by IRNA on Sunday.
The visit will be the first by an Iranian president to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since war broke out in Syria in 2011.
Raisi will travel to Damascus with a large political and economic delegation for a two-day visit on the invitation of his Syrian counterpart, said the ambassador, Hossein Akbari.
