Iran’s Former Ambassador to U.S. Amir Aslan Afshar Passes Away in France


Amir Aslan Afshar, Iran’s former Ambassador to the U.S. and the last Chief of Protocol of the Imperial Court, passed away in Nice, France on Feb. 18 at the age of 101.

Dr. Afshar was also Iran’s ambassador to Austria, Mexico, and the Federal Republic of Germany.

During his extensive political and diplomatic career, Dr. Afshar served as a Deputy in the Iranian Parliament, and a Delegate to the United Nations General Assembly’s Economic and Financial Committee.

Dr. Afshar will be laid to rest in a strictly private ceremony, his family announced.
