I congratulate Kayhan London, its publisher, managing editor, editorial staff, contributors, and readers on the 40th Anniversary of the founding of this influential newspaper.
Through the works of several generations of dedicated, patriotic, and pro-democracy journalists, and despite operating outside Iran with limited means, the paper has continually provided accurate news and information in the past 40 years, an unprecedented achievement in the history of Iranian journalism.
I pay tribute to the late Mostafa Mesbahzadeh, the founder of Kayhan newspaper, who established Kayhan London following his forced exile from Iran. I also honor the memory of the paper’s former editors-in-chief, including the late Kazem Gilanpour, Houshang Vaziri, and Ahmad Ahrar (who passed away last December).
I must also praise the hard work of Nazenin Ansari, Kayhan London’s publisher and managing editor, Elahe Boghrat, its current editor-in-chief, and the editorial staff and contributors of the paper and its English edition Kayhan Life. They have kept alive a prominent and different voice within the Iranian media.
I wish you all continued success, and I hope you can continue your journalistic work in Iran soon and hold the government accountable.
Long live Iran.
Reza Pahlavi
