Prada’s Fringes; Moschino’s Attitude Impact Milan

Italian fashion houses Prada and Moschino unveiled their womenswear collections for Milan Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2017/18.

Miuccia Prada, founder and creative director of the eponymous luxury group, brought to the catwalk soft and strong designs in an attempt to define the role of women in society. Prada models wore corduroy pants, biker berets, and long velvet skirts that recalled women’s protests of the 1970s.

Moschino presented attitude and character in their “Cardboard Couture” collection.

The brand used everything for its designs: upholstery fabric, shower curtains or even rubbish from black waste bags for its dresses, and coat hangers and round hat boxes as fascinators.

A waste bin lid or a bicycle wheel were used to easily replace wide-brimmed hats while objects such as candelabras and feather dusters were worn instead of headbands. – REUTERS
