Fendi’s Rome and Movie-Inspired Designs Wow Fashionistas in Milan

Milan fashion week continues with Fendi’s Autumn-Winter 2017-18 collection inspired by Rome and cinema, with models Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner appearing on the catwalk.

Italy’s Fendi took fashionistas on a tour of the streets of Rome, where the fashion house was founded, with subtle classical creations that evoked characters from old movie scenes.

Fendi models, including celebrities Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, walked down a wooden catwalk with inlaid “double F” logos set up in the group’s headquarters, to the rhythm of vintage Ennio Morricone music.

The inlays of the catwalk could be found in the designs of the clothes, most of which showcased the group’s well-known craftmaship, particularly with the use of fur and leather.

The pieces were created with mosaic, inlay and cut-out techniques and featured materials, such as wool, silk, leather, fur and organza.

The 2017-18 Autumn/Winter collection oozed autumnal colors, with deep and carmine reds, browns and lighter camels, with dabs of cobalt and petrol blue, side by side with more classical greys and tartans. – REUTERS
