Shahnaz Akmal, the Mother of Mustafa Karim-Beigi who was killed by Iranian security forces in 2009 during the Ashura protests in Tehran, has been sentenced to one year in prison for “spreading propaganda against the government,” and has also been given a two year ban on going outside. Mrs Akmal has also been banned from using social media.
