Bessent: Any Rollback of Economic, Financial Blockade on Iran Would Be Slow

May 29 — U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Friday that any removal of the U.S. financial and economic blockade on Iran would be slow.

“We’ll see,” Bessent said. “It will be — anything that’s taken off is taken off slowly.”

Bessent also said the United States had seized $1 billion in Iranian cryptocurrency assets as part of the economic component of President Donald Trump’s war on the Islamic Republic.
