In “The Conference of the Birds,” a 12th-century masterpiece by the Iranian poet Attar, a courageous flock of birds embark on a transformative quest to find the legendary Phoenix, known as Simorgh in Persian.
Their journey is fraught with trials and tribulations – only 30 birds reach their destination. Gazing into a lake, they are met with their own reflections. It is here that the profound truth reveals itself: the Simorgh, which translates to “30 birds” in Persian, symbolizes not just a mythical creature, but their own inner essence.
This awakening to the spirit of the Simorgh, or Phoenix in English, resonates profoundly within the vibrant Iranian global community committed to uprooting Iran’s theocracy.
