The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran faced renewed calls by several European Union countries to be listed as a terrorist organization this week, following a High Court ruling in Germany which held that a terror attack on a synagogue in Bochum could be traced back to Islamic Republic authorities.

The military wing, which is considered by Iran experts to be the driving force behind the Islamic Republic’s agenda, oversees almost every aspect of the state’s military, intelligence and foreign policies.
