The ministry did not specify the nature of the activity in its statement. The Vienna convention defines the rules ​and privileges of diplomatic missions. ANKARA, Sept 16 (Reuters) – The Houthi capture of ANKARA, Sept 16 (Reuters) – The Houthi capture of ground overlooking the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has dealt Saudi Arabia its gravest setback in Yemen in years, exposing intelligence failures, the collapse of Yemeni allies and the limits of U.S. protection. A Houthi advance this week along the Red Sea coast and the capture of islands at the mouth of the strait, a vital artery for global oil supplies, has also left the kingdom scrambling for backing as Iran and its allies expand their reach. Senior Western, regional and Yemeni officials and sources said the Houthi breakthrough reflected various factors: deep divisions among anti-Houthi Yemeni factions, an untested Saudi-led command structure that replaced Emirati oversight, limited Saudi air support and an underestimation of Houthi preparations. The diplomat said the Houthis had quietly assembled about 100,000 fighters, vastly outnumbering forces on the opposing side, adding: “Everyone, including the Saudis, missed this build-up and miscalculated the Houthis’ intentions.” Neil Quilliam, a fellow at London’s Chatham House think tank, described the offensive as a glaring intelligence failure, saying: “They just weren’t picking up the signal. They just weren’t seeing the signs.” Yemeni political analyst Farea Al-Muslimi added: “The Saudis were caught off guard in Yemen.” The collapse of Saudi-backed forces handed the Houthis another prize beyond territory — a sizeable cache of advanced U.S.- and Saudi-supplied weaponry abandoned during the retreat. The haul, according to regional sources, is likely to bolster the group’s military capabilities, provide valuable intelligence on adversaries’ equipment and further reinforce perceptions of a humiliating Saudi defeat. “The Yemeni government forces were like a house of cards. They didn’t resist. Completely. Completely,” said Abdulkhaleq Abdallah, a political analyst in the United Arab Emirates.

The meeting, which has not been made public, was held at the U.S. Embassy in Muscat, three of the sources said on the condition of anonymity. Two sources said that Oman’s government, a longtime regional mediator, helped organize the meeting.

Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre said Iranian state-linked cyber actors had used a spyware family known as “CHOSEN BRICK” to steal emails, messages and other sensitive information through “spear-phishing” campaigns on messaging platforms including WhatsApp and Telegram. “The details of this cyber campaign reveal  how Iran ruthlessly uses digital surveillance in pursuit of  its  aim  to  repress critics of the regime, stealing emails and messages and accessing devices,” Paul Chichester, NCSC director of operations, said in a statement. Iran‘s embassy in London did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The malware, according to the advisory, can collect information from contact lists, emails and social media accounts, capture screen content and access a device’s microphone. The NCSC said some victims’ personal details had later appeared on pro-Iranian leak sites. The FBI, in its own advisory, said Iran‘s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) was using the malware to “collect intelligence, conduct data leaks, and inflict reputational harm against their intended targets.” The FBI declined to share additional details on how many people have been targeted with the malware, or where they’re located. The NCSC said the attackers often posed as trusted contacts on messaging apps and tailored their approach to individual targets. In some cases, it said, they used fake documents, including fabricated MRI test results, to persuade victims to download the malware.

According to reports, part of a tire on one of the landing gear wheels came off during takeoff. The pilot declared an emergency and requested to return for landing at Mashhad Airport. Airport officials confirmed the aircraft landed safely at Mashhad’s Shahid Hashemi Nejad Airport, with all passengers disembarking unharmed. Hassan Jafari, public relations director for the Khorasan Razavi Airports General Directorate, said the flight had already been canceled twice due to technical problems.
