Jan. 4 – A senior United Nations official warned the UN Security Council that the Middle East was experiencing a dangerous escalation of the conflict in the region, following ongoing attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi group.

The armed group, which is funded by the Islamic Republic and is a member of its axis of resistance, has carried out attacks in Israel, Yemen, and the Red Sea, in what it has said is an act of solidarity with Palestine.

The official called for all parties to comply with humanitarian law and said the UN condemned attacks claimed by the Houthis.

More than 250 members of the British Parliament called on Iran’s government to stop executions in the country, and accused the regime of using the death penalty to target dissidents and anti-government protestors.

The statement also accuses Iran’s theocracy of politically motivated executions designed to suppress dissent and stop future uprisings “through fear and terror.”

Iran’s government is the world’s most prolific executioner of children, women and men on a per capita basis.

And an Israeli national has been charged with spying for Iran, and carrying out missions on behalf of its regime which harmed Israel’s national security, according to prosecutors in the case.

Alexander Granovsky was charged with being in contact with a foreign agent, handing over information, and vandalism and arson offenses.

Granovsky has been accused of “filming security facilities, spray-painting political messages, and torching cars.”
