Feb. 1 – Iranians may once again be banned from traveling to America, under plans by US President Donald Trump to review which foreigners might be deemed to be a threat to the interests of the US.
A previous travel ban leveled mostly at Muslim countries and ordered by Trump during his first presidency in 2017 stopped Iranians from entering the US on risk of terrorism grounds.
The ban was repealed in 2021 by the then newly elected US President Joe Biden.
Iran’s regime arrested 13 women practicing the Baha’i faith in Iran for attempting to convert children and young people. The Baha’i International Community, which represents the faith worldwide said the women were teaching Sunday School.
The Islamic Republic’s constitution currently recognizes only three religious minorities: Zoroastrians, Jews, and Christians who have not converted from Islam.
Despite being protected by the constitution, these groups have been subjected to discrimination for their religious beliefs.
And Iran’s malign behavior in the Middle East, Russia’s war with Ukraine and China’s increased military tension with Taiwan led scientists to adjust the Doomsday Clock closer to midnight than ever before.
The clock was created to warn the public about how close humanity was to destroying the world, with the time of midnight being used as a symbol for the point at which mankind experiences total destruction.
Scientists have now set the clock to 89 seconds before midnight- one second closer than it was set last year.
