US President Donald Trump is poised to relaunch his Maximum Pressure campaign against Iran, which he established during his first presidency in 2017. By imposing strong sanctions on the Islamic Republic, this policy seeks to curb the regime’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs by undermining its economic control.
The strings of sanctions to his bow will also likely aim at Russia, China, and North Korea. He has already warned Chinese President Xi Jinping about implementing a 10 percent tariff on all goods and told Russian President Vladimir Putin that if he does not end his war against Ukraine, the US will impose tariffs, taxes, and sanctions on Russia.
