CounterPoint brings together thought leaders, experts, and opinion makers specializing on Iran: its society, economy and politics, and its position on the global scene. Participants will also make recommendations on Iran’s future trajectory and on potential policy options available to it.
The first program will examine what the results of the upcoming U.S. Presidential elections will mean for Iran and its socio-economic conditions. Why is Iran’s current economic structure non-responsive to economic stimulus? What are the prospects for another agreement similar to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or the nuclear deal, signed in 2015? Has the US maximum pressure policy on Iran been successful? What is the forecast for practical cooperation between the US and European partners in Iran?
