DUBAI, Oct 11 (Reuters) – The United States’ respo DUBAI, Oct 11 (Reuters) – The United States’ response to Iran‘s seven conditions in a proposal to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz was “insufficient”, Iran‘s security chief, Mohsen Rezaei, was quoted by state media on Sunday as saying. Iran presented a proposal during the UN General Assembly under which the Strait of Hormuz waterway could be reopened and normal maritime passage restored within seven days if the conditions were met, to which the US later replied via Qatari intermediaries. Washington needs to clarify the issues that remain unclear to Tehran, Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, said, adding “we presented seven conditions to the Americans and clearly stated that the Strait of Hormuz would not be opened to them, and no negotiations would take place, until these conditions are met.” The White House did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. Rezaei said Iran is “no longer in the process of responding to the Americans”. “In their response, they have accepted some of our conditions, while others remain unclear,” he added. Tehran said late in September that it had received a US response to its latest proposal to resurrect the collapsed ceasefire in the [Persian] Gulf, days after US President Donald Trump said he had rejected it. Qatar and other mediators have transmitted messages between Washington and Tehran in an effort to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the conduit for a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas before the war that began at the end of February with US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Oct 10 (Reuters) – The US military said on Saturda Oct 10 (Reuters) – The US military said on Saturday it had disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman after the ship’s crew ignored warnings and attempted to run a naval blockade against Iran. “A U.S. military fighter jet struck the stern of Panama-flagged M/V Ocean Molica (also known as the “Arika Sun”) with a precision munition, fully disabling the ship’s propulsion without harming the crew,” the US Central Command posted on X. CENTCOM said the cargo vessel had attempted to transit regional waters after leaving an Iranian port. Reuters was not immediately able to reach the bulk carrier’s operator for comment. CENTCOM warned mariners in the Gulf of Oman and the approaches to the Strait of Hormuz to heed blockade warnings, monitor notice-to-mariners broadcasts and contact US naval forces. The number of vessels transiting the vital strait fell to the lowest in more than two months after attacks on tankers reached their highest level last week since the US and Israel launched the war on Iran in February, raising concerns over shipping disruptions and supporting crude prices. Oct 10 (Reuters) – The United Arab Emirates Nation Oct 10 (Reuters) – The United Arab Emirates National Guard said on Saturday it had rescued 22 Asian crew members after a fire broke out aboard an oil tanker in [Persian] Gulf waters. The National Guard said its Coast Guard received a distress report from the crew and dispatched specialist teams, which located the vessel. All of those rescued were in stable condition, it said.
