WASHINGTON, April 20 (Reuters) – President Donald WASHINGTON, April 20 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump said on Monday he believed a nuclear deal the U.S. is currently negotiating with Iran will be better than a 2015 international agreement to curb Tehran’s nuclear program.

“The DEAL that we are making with Iran will be FAR BETTER than the JCPOA, commonly referred to as ‘The Iran Nuclear Deal’,” Trump wrote in a social media post after concerns expressed by Democrats and some nuclear experts that he is rushing negotiations on a highly complex topic.

During his first White House term, Trump in 2018 withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action agreed to by Iran, the United States and world powers, calling it “the worst deal ever.”

The United States and Israel began attacking Iran more than seven weeks ago in a conflict that Trump has said aims to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

With a two-week ceasefire set to expire in the coming days, prospects for a second round of talks between the U.S. and Iran in Pakistan were not clear.

“I am under no pressure whatsoever, although, it will all happen, relatively quickly!” Trump added in a Truth Social post.

It is currently unclear what kind of deal could be credibly agreed to by the United States and Iran in a short amount of time. The 2015 agreement, which also involved France, Germany, China, Britain and Russia, took two years to negotiate and involved some 200 specialists spanning nuclear physics, sanctions, finance and law.

April 20 - The Islamic Republic of Iran is stepping up its campaign of repression against the population, and using Shia proxy forces from Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Türkiye to enforce it.

The government appears to be intent on demonstrating that, even in the case of a prolonged conflict and further damage to the country, it can stay in power and avert collapse by maintaining the effectiveness of its repressive machinery.

Analysts say that this strategy serves two primary aims: to reassure the regime’s supporters that the “resistance” remains active, and to offset weaknesses among its own forces on the ground.

DUBAI, April 20 (Reuters) – Iran executed two men DUBAI, April 20 (Reuters) – Iran executed two men convicted of cooperating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence service and planning attacks inside the country, the judiciary’s news outlet Mizan reported on Sunday.

Mizan said the two, identified as Mohammad Masoum Shahi and Hamed Validi, were accused of belonging to a spy network linked to Mossad and had received training abroad, including in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

They had been convicted on charges including “enmity against God” and cooperation with hostile groups, and their death sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court before being carried out, Mizan reported.

April 20 - The Iranian photographer Siavosh Ejlali (@s.i.a.v.o.sh) — who lives and works in Karaj, Iran — is one of the winners of this year’s Sony World Photography Awards (@worldphotoorg), a prestigious set of prizes that spotlight stories of our time.

Ejlali’s winning image “Lost Hope,” a tribute to Iranian women, was chosen out of more than 430,000 images submitted by photographers in more than 200 countries to the Open competition (which requires no entry fee). It was one of 10 category winners, and garnered the top prize in the “Creative” category.

Ejlali was also, in parallel, one of 10 photographers shortlisted for the Open Photographer of the Year award, which was given out earlier this month.

The photographer recently spoke to Kayhan Life in an interview.

Describe your entry “Lost Hope”, and what you wanted to convey through the image.

My photograph “Lost Hope” is a symbolic image reflecting social and psychological pressures, as well as the emotional weight, imposed on Iranian women in recent years. The black plastic covering most of the face represents dark thoughts and the imposition of beliefs and dominant narratives that restrict identity and personal freedom. The red balloon falling toward the ground suggests a fragile hope gradually slipping away.

April 20 - In its heyday, the Iranian National Ballet Company was an internationally recognized cultural institution. Active for 21 years, it attracted distinguished dancers and instructors from across the globe to develop ballet in Iran, nurturing a generation of gifted dancers.

The company also staged some of the world’s most celebrated operas in Iran, and played a crucial role in preserving and promoting Iranian folk dances, preserving the country’s artistic heritage.

The Islamic Revolution of 1979 put an end to all that. The joy of music and dance disappeared from the nation, as religious conservatism and authoritarianism took hold. Under the Islamic Republic, singing and dancing were among the first activities to be banned.

The Iranian National Ballet Company was permanently disbanded. Its members either fled the country or left the arts, abandoning — or even destroying — the memories of their past.

Gita Ostovani, one of the founding members of the dance troupe and a teacher at the National Ballet Conservatory of Iran, experienced those dramatic changes firsthand.

Ostovani recently shared her memories of the golden age of ballet in Iran and her life in exile in an interview with Kayhan Life.

How did you develop your passion for dance, and when did you start ballet school?
