Reuters: Turkish singer Melek Mosso cut her hair on stage during a concert in Istanbul on Monday, September 26, in solidarity with Iranian women protesting the country’s strict dress codes after a woman died in custody of the morality police.
Footage posted to Instagram shows fans cheering as the singer takes a scissors to her hair. “If you want to grab us by the hair and drag us into your darkness, we’ll cut that hair too,” Mosso said on Instagram, according to a machine translation. “I am with the Iranian people and the women who are fighting for their freedom there until the end,” she said.
The death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini sparked a wave of protests within Iran and abroad. Protests entered their 12th night in Iran on Tuesday, according to reports.
